unrestricted ANNUAL GIVING

While unrestricted gifts allow staff to make the most impactful and responsive decisions over the course of the fiscal year, you may restrict gifts to one of our three existing programs as well: Self-Directed Assistance; Employment Services Division; or Community Day Services. Staff is happy to discuss your giving plans and options.

Make sure to check with your employer and other associations you belong to about matching gifts or if they might support a sponsorship of Gateway to Learning’s 50th Anniversary RockABILITY Benefit on April 19, 2023.

non-cash gifts

Please contact staff regarding stock and other non-cash gifts, as well as to set up one time or recurring disbursements from IRA account if you are 70.5 or older. We are happy to work with institutions who manage your Donor Advised Fund as well.

Planned Giving

If you would like to include a legacy gift to Gateway for Learning a part of your planned giving, please contact Executive Director Kathryn Lavin, so we can discuss options and provide you and your advisors with any information you need. It is helpful for the organization to be aware of such formalized plans, not only so we can appropriately recognize as a member of our legacy society, but also so we may plan accordingly and encourage others to join in this meaningful way of ensuring Gateway to Learning’s strong future.

50th Anniversary

2024 marks the start of Gateway to Learning’s 50th year bringing services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities living on the or near the north side of Chicago. YOU are invited to celebrate with us as we continue to evolve and grow.

Throughout the year, alumni, current participants and their communities, as well as individual and institutional funders and partners, will have opportunities to honor the work of Gateway to Learning’s first 50 years of innovative and excellent services, and chances to contribute to its financial strength as the organization moves into its next half a century in ways and at levels that are meaningful for everyone.

RockABILITY Benefit

Each spring, Gateway to Learning gathers its community of participants, families, staff, supporters and partners to celebrate with an inclusive and joyous evening honoring some of its greatest allies, with festive food, drink, live music and dancing. This is a “wear what feels fabulous” event, not a black tie dinner!

Sponsorships, tickets, a live and silent auction, and FUND-A-NEED “paddle raise” contribute to funds that allow Gateway to Learning to continue to move forward with its person-centered, ambitious strategic goals, particularly in the area of employment training and services.

SAVE THE DATE for the special 50th Anniversary edition of RockABILITY on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 5:30-9:30 pm at the UBEW Local 134 Hall in Bronzeville just south of McCormick Place. Sponsorship levels range from $500-$15,000 this year, and there are opportunities to cover the cost of all staff and participants and their families attending.
